Technical analysis

N sync- Drive myself crazy

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=TzTEsS7Qzq8&feature=related

0:00- Slow motion of a woman walking towards the camera. She has a quizzical look upon her face. The woman is attractive and is wearing lab clothes. This I believe is for the male audience as she is a sexual character.
0:06- The camera zooms in on a window. in the window are the boyband, position so they can all be seen, some sitting, some standing. The mise-en-scene (in the window) is a padded cell. This is an example of voyeurism.
0:12- A second shot of the woman, this time outside the window of the cell looking in. The camera zooms out.
0:17- A member of the band looks into the camera (at the woman)
0:18- The camera moves around and towards a differnet member sitting/lounging on the floor. The blank, blue background allows us to focus entirely on the singer.
0:21- Cut to MS, member looking downcast and sad.
0:23-Low angle moving across grass, sideways as a man walks off away from it. (diff location-start of narrative).
0:25- Pan across past tree to follow man (now recognised as member that was singing previously in cell). He grets a woman, sits down to join her at what seems to be a picnic. Enigma- is she his girlfriend? the reason he is sad?
0:26- Member in cell again in the corner looking distant.
0:28- New location in a room (connected to padded cell- may be a hospital ward). Member singing, sat on bed.
0:30- Dissolve to group in cell.

I think the video is creating a narrative that they have been heartbroken and perhaps they are in padded cell to communicate that lack of love has drove them mad. The atmosphere in the cell is dismal. A blueish tint is used that we associate with sadness and coldness. When we see shots with the woman there is a high contrast and many bright colours are shown. The sun is shining and the members are smiling. The juxtaposition of shots go with the narrative; this video is purely narrative based.
