Audience Consumption
Companies use many methods to find out information on how audiences consume music channels. They use desk research, qualitative focus groups, qualitative surveys, in-home interviews and video diaries. These companies have identified two different types of consumption , active and passive. Through these two types of consumption companies have looked into the ways which they use the programing. One type is focused viewing, this is when the audience are attentive, they creat deeper relationships and feel rewarded by watching it. The second type is ambient viewing. Ambient audiences are oassive audiences, they may use the channels for music when theya re getting ready to go out or when they have friends round and it ios used as background music.
